So, last night was the launch of Janelle Monáe’s “The Electric Lady” and what with the cover art, I was lucky enough to tag along backstage (which was technically a boat and the stage was a dock of sorts). I brought my buddy Ibra Ake (awesome photographer and Childish Gambino’s Creative Director by the way) and it was one of the more surreal experiences I’ve had.
I am, to put it lightly: an incredibly uncool person. So it was awesome after a couple months painting her covers to cap it all off with her, Big Boi, and Diddy performing, and as you can see above — meeting some actually cool people. I was basically bottling up giddiness or terror all night as is evidenced by my near emotional explosions of facial expressions but it was … a hell of a night.
Now to return to dorky hermit life where I belong.
